The target market of The Metro newspaper is ages 15 - 35 Mainly middle income commuters usually singer or young couples, you can tell this by the range of content inside, Also the target market includes people who are intressed in going out to clubs, concerts, cinema's, and events aswell as people who like sports.
Also the articlles in The Metro newspaper tell us that they are meant to be read quick and fast due to the fact that a average bus journey is 15 - 20 minutes, People wont have the time to read a article that takes longer than 5 minutes, so The Metro has used stories that could take about 3 minutes to read.
Further more the target market of The Metro newspaper are also school and university students who maybe are looking for jobs, tent to be educated.

The purpose of the metro newspaper is to inform people about the world news, crime/domestic crime, sports , travel news and weather.
It's also to make money, even though The Metro is a free newspaper it still makes the company money and profit, They do this buy selling advertising space in other words selling sections of the newspaper for companys to advertise on.
Aswell as making money from companys who buy the section space The Metro also posts articles about companys who are looking for workers, for example if there was a job opening a company would adertise in The Metro to see if anyone will respond and show up for the job.
Making The Metro a free newspaper is a smart idea becouse the more readers there is then the more they can sell their advertising space for.
